Pack It All Up

Every once in a while, I get asked “What kind of camera are you using?”, so today, I thought I’d share about what’s in my camera bag.   I ALWAYS have two camera bodies with me in case on body fails. My primary camera is a 5D Mark IV and my secondary is a 5d Mark III. For getting ready images, I love using my 50 mm f/1.2. This is a portrait lens that is perfect for getting details and soft edges when I need it to. When it’s time to get the smaller details, like rings or jewelry, I use a Sigma Macro.

During ceremonies I love to throw on my Holdfast camera harness to help balance the weight of two cameras. I keep my 24-70 mm f/2.8 on the main body. This lens is a wide angle lens that helps me to get the whole ceremony site. My secondary body carries my 70-200 mm f/2.8 lens. This is a (telephoto) zoom lens that allows me to get close up images without getting in the way of guests.

For lighting, we all primarily use natural light (when able) and two off camera flashes as needed. I’ll modify my lights as I feel necessary. I also keep a spare flash to throw on my camera when dancing gets crazy and I need to move more quickly. I always have spare batteries, a charger, and a crystal ball to play with when I get the time!

I always throw in a phone charger, tissues, chapstick and deodorant because you’ll never know when those things will come in handy. My HydroFlask is always my best friend on wedding days and I hate leaving the house without it.

The Honeymoon is over… Now What?

The months of planning are over. The best day ever passed. The honeymoon ended. It’s “back to reality”. Now that most of the stress is done, it’s time to think about the last project that is wedding related – printing your photos!!!! One of the most special days of your life shouldn’t just be left sitting on an online archive. While it’s great to be able to share with family and friends instantly, printing your photos is something so special. There’s something unique about being able to hold this heirloom in your hands and share it with future generations. Prints and albums will live on forever.

My most favorite decorations in my house are my canvas prints. To be honest, it’s rare that we look back on the digital images, but the canvases we see every single day. It’s a beautiful reminder of the love we’ve shared.

What many of you don’t know, is that you can actually order prints and albums directly through us! We custom design each piece carefully and to your standards. We don’t want your galleries to sit unlooked at. Ask us more about our services!

Check out Vanessa and Juan’s stunning wedding photographed by yours truly.
