Love Yourself

It is so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of our day-to-day lives. Recently, I’ve realized how important self care is. I felt SO overwhelmed with edits, wedding planning, and keeping up with bookings, it was time to take a breather. I started doing yoga and noticed an instant change! I felt more focused, energized, and ready to kick butt again. I got a massage, relieving some of the tension. I took a bubble bath and drank wine! WOAH!!!! Did all of that make me feel like a brand new person.

So here’s your reminder to take a deep breath and slow down a little. You are only human. As much as we like to think we can do it all, we can’t. Ask for help. Take a day to relax. Drink that wine!

Camera Shy

Being in front of the camera can be incredibly intimidating. You may have never done photos before or just feel uncomfortable working with a new person. Engagement sessions are the perfect way to gain confidence and feel comfortable in front of the camera. We love to tell clients, “It is our job to make you look and feel most beautiful. You don’t have to do any work! Just have fun!”

We’ll talk as we approach the location, getting to know more about you individually and as a couple. To make you feel comfortable, we like to start with super simple and easy posing. Action shots, like walking or dancing together, help you to have some fun together. After that, we’ll move into more posed images. We like to keep things simple! Throughout your session, you’ll feel posed, but we like to have a natural and playful look. One thing that we suggest is to have a little cocktail before your session (if you drink that is!). This can help with nerves and make you feel relaxed.

How I See Love

Being newly engaged has really changed how I see love. While we already knew we wanted to be together forever, this is the next step before we do the whole we-love-each-other-so-much-lets-get-the-government-involved thing (aka get married). There’s no running; it’s just the two of us taking on the world together. To me, it’s knowing that I’ve found my forever person, my partner in life, and my best friend. We are committed to being a team and nurturing our relationship in this world where giving up can be common.

Growing up in private school, I learned the common verse “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails…

Before getting engaged, I read the most profound statement that forever changed how I see love. The statement said “Read the verse but place your partners name before each Love attribute.” This spoke volumes to me! It really made me think about the type of person that I would marry. I wanted to someone to show me love in a new and beautiful way. I revisit this phrase often. It’s a constant reminder of what love is to me.
