Getting Social

In recent years, social media has become a major platform for us as photographers. It has been a great way for us to freely share our work with a variety of people. We get so many inquiries through Instagram and Pinterest!  These platforms help so many couples plan out their wedding day that we try to share as much of our work as possible.

One thing we love about sharing our work on Instagram and Pinterest is that we feature real engagements and real weddings – nothing is styled. It’s a change for you to get a variety of ideas for your very own wedding! Another great aspect of social media is the ability for you to share the images that we post with your family and friends. Who doesn’t love seeing their own wedding day featured? It’s such a great way to relive the excitement with the ones you love.

What Inspires Us

As a photographer, I also consider myself to be an artist. I’ve spent countless hours in classes and seminars learning how to properly take a photo, how to set up lighting, how to pose, and even a little bit about business. Creativity, however, is not something that I felt I could learn in school. I learned so many technical things that I didn’t get the chance to step out of my comfort zone until my last year of college.

One of my favorite  and most challenging courses was called “Special Studies in Photography”.  We are given a whole semester to think up our own project that focused on strong content and creative ideas. This course was HARD – really hard. It was my first class where I could literally do anything I wanted. But where do I go? What the heck do I create over the next 18 weeks? I felt stumped. My genius professors (shout out to Linda Kroff and Julie Orser!) told us to make lists of what inspire us. So I sat and thought… and then I thought some more. And after even more thinking I eventually figured out what inspired my creativity.

I learned that I feel deeply inspired by poetry, nature, and relationships. These things help me dive into my creativity and create beautiful images that will last a lifetime. The rawness of poetry, the beauty of nature, and the love between two people are things that inspire me to continue growing as an artist.

Rainy Day

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the rain… but being a Southern California girl, I need a solid dose of that California sunshine! I feel like this is the rainiest year I’ve witnessed in my life. California has definitely needed it after the crazy drought that we’ve had over the past few years. But I guess all we can do is go with the flow, right? I’ll take all the rainy day snuggles, candles, and hot chocolate, please and thank you!

Amelia and Marc’s beautiful spring was the perfect reminder of the beauty that the rain brings. All of the beautiful lush and greenery wouldn’t be possible without a healthy helping of rain. Her gorgeous sunflower bouquet brightened my day – I hope it brightens yours too! And check out their super adorable umbrella! That would definitely make the dreary rain a little bit more fun!
