Oh, The Places You’ll Go!

Choosing the “perfect” place for engagement sessions can be a bit tricky – but we’re here to help! Often we suggest that our couples choose a location that is sentimental for them; this might be where you had your first date, a favorite date night spot, or even where they proposed to you. You might be thinking “Yeah… okay, but those places are all ugly” or maybe you just don’t love them… this is where we can help!

Each of our couples receives our fabulous engagement session guide with a variety of locations listed. It helps you visualize how you want your engagement session to look. To keep ideas fresh, you can also utilize the guide for suggestions in looking for something that best suits your personal style and needs!

When we planned Thomas and Marianne’s engagement session, they knew right away that Huntington beach would be their spot! Thomas first asked Marianne to prom at the lifeguard tower – so returning to this spot brought back so many sweet, sentimental memories for them.

You’re Engaged! Now What? Part 2

By now you’ve probably finished up your dream boards and wrangled a few helpers as suggested from last week’s post.

So what next? Part two of course! The next very important part of planning is to make a list of your priorities with your fiancé and begin budgeting. Try to pick two or three priorities each. You might value photography and your venue while your fiancé might just be all about the food. Selecting priorities will help you to narrow down vendors. It also can help to break down your to do list by working on these tasks together.

Budgeting is probably the most daunting task – especially if you hate math like me! It’s great to start with a ball park number, then divide your budget into different categories such as venue, catering, photography/video, attire, and music. Make sure to also budget for unexpected costs – such as service fees or insurance. But here’s where your priority list will help you!!! Once you’ve broken down the major categories, you can find wiggle room in certain areas to move those to your must haves. Boom!! You did it!!

This blog post could easily go on forever about planning, but maybe I’ll save more for another post in the future 😉

In the mean time, check out this beautiful wedding for inspiration. You’re Engaged! Now what?

Raise your hand if you got engaged over the holidays!! December and January seem to fill the air with love and cause a chain reaction of proposals. We LOVE hearing about how our couples met, fell in love, and got engaged.

Now that the wait is over, it’s finally time to begin planning! But where do you start? One of my favorite things would be to start a vision board (hello, Pinterest!) Select your absolute favorites to help set a tone for your wedding. Get some ideas about potential venues, florals, dresses, and wedding colors. By no means is planning an easy task, but I’ve found that dreaming up your big day is the best way to start. Another great tip for planning would be to get your fiancé or a very close friend involved! Having someone there to support you will make the whole process a million times easier. We love being there to support you as well. If you have any questions, we love to share our resources with our couples!
